Entropion is straightforward: the eyelid rolls inwards, hair rubs the cornea, and the dog is in constant low-grade pain. It is one of the few French Bulldog problems with a genuinely definitive surgical fix.
Why it matters more in this breed
Brachycephalic skull shape produces shallow orbits, prominent eyes and heavy facial folds. All three conspire to distort the eyelid margin. The nasal fold in particular can physically drag the lower lid inwards, which is why some dogs need the fold addressed alongside the lid.
Do not delay for growth
Surgeons will sometimes place temporary tacking sutures in a very young puppy rather than performing definitive surgery, because the face is still growing and over-correction is a real risk. That is sound reasoning. It is not a reason to leave an actively ulcerating eye untreated for months.

Both cause squinting and discharge. The distinguishing feature is persistence and recurrence — an infection resolves with treatment, entropion returns as soon as treatment stops, because the mechanical cause is still there.
Is entropion surgery permanent?
